Markdown

Markdown is a lightweight markup language with plain-text-formatting syntax. Markdown is often used to format readme files, for writing messages in online discussion forums, and to create rich text using a plain text editor. Wiki's, as an example, use a form or Markdown.

There are two common sites that are used to create homebrew content in Markdown.

The Text Converter for 5etools can convert Markdown into Homebrew content for use in 5etools (and therefore Roll20 and Foundry). (see the Text Converter page for what kinds of homebrew it can make.

>
